Now Offering Seniors in Action/ Silver Sneakers®

Spring April 15- June 1, 2013

This is a fitness program for adults 55 & over at Genesis Lifestyle & Fitness Center. Please note that classes for MSROM and Cardio Circuit allow for a setup and tear down time. The actual class workout time is 45 minutes in length not a full hour.  The extra 15 minutes of time is for pre-class setup and post-class tear down.  Cost is $40 for the full 7-week session or free for GLFC & Silver Sneaker members.   To register stop by the front desk or call 454-4767.

Silver Sneakers® CardioFit – a 45-60 minute workout

This class gets you on your feet and moving! An aerobic exercise class geared towards lo-impact aerobics for 30 minutes standing (no chair) then an additional 20 minutes of strength using the chair with weights, ball, and elastic tubing, optional supported mat floor work may be included. It is strongly recommended that participants are able to stand unsupported and can move at a moderate intensity for 30 minutes to participate.

Silver Sneakers® Muscular Strength and Range of Movement (MSROM) – a 45 minute workout

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercise designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Silver Sneakers® Cardio Circuit – a 45 minute workout

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.  Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography.  A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercise.

Seniors in Action classes

Big Ball – Slow paced 30 minutes of class using the big ball for upper body, core and lower body strength and conditioning.  Floor work is involved – but do not let that scare you.  We will assist you down and up from the floor.  Participants in the past have commented they gained the ability to get up and down.  Give it a try.

Senior Step – 30 minutes of stepping up and down to music on a 4 inch platform. Participant must be able to stay standing for 30 minutes, and have good balance.

Zumba Gold – 30 minutes of Latin dance exercise. Swing your hips and move to the music for an energetic class.
